Business Licensing Information
The Selectmen are the Municipal Licensing
Board. Permits requiring a public hearing
need to be filed 10 days before the Selectmen's
Meeting. The Selectmen meet on the first
and third Tuesdays of the Month. Some permits
require inspections. State licenses or permits
must be obtained before local approval can
be given. CEO and Health Officer inspections
required must be completed before filing
your application. The Selectmen meet in the
Public Meeting Room at the Town Hall at 300
Lisbon Street. Please allow two to three
weeks to process permits requiring background
checks.

Local permits are required if your business's
main office is located outside Maine. Applications
must be filed at the Town Clerk's Office.
A state seller's permit is required at the
time of filing. Contact the Sales Tax Division
at 207-287-2336 for information. The fee
is $5.00.
Permits are not required if your business's
main office is located in Maine. However,
we would appreciate it if you would let the
Town Clerk's Office or the Police Department
know who you are, what you are selling and
how long you intend to be in our area.
