Dear New Residents & Visitors to Lisbon

Greetings!

On behalf of the town council, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the town of Lisbon.

The citizens of Lisbon have a great deal of pride in their town. Lisbon has a thriving business community, and beautiful residential areas. There is 3.5 miles of walking trail system along the Androscoggin and Sabattus rivers, which is also part of the East Coast Greenway trail system. In addition, Lisbon has its own 375 acre nature park called Beaver Park and is filled with ponds for fishing, trails for hiking and places for picnics and family gatherings .  Beaver Park is located off Cotton Road and is open year-round for the whole family to enjoy.  These characteristics help make Lisbon truly a special community.

The MTM center, a part of the recreation center complex on School Street, houses an active senior citizens program, as well as kitchen area and meeting rooms for the public’s use. The town has numerous recreation programs for all ages. In addition, there are many opportunities for citizens to participate in community recreational and volunteer activities.

Lisbon is also known nationally for its famous Moxie Festival, held the second weekend in July annually.  The festival brings in between 30,000 - 40,000  vistors to the community for the annual parade, entertainment, fireworks, 5K, food, Moxie recipe contest and more.  This is truly a family filled event.

Lisbon is a community that is centrally located between two interstate highways and within a 30 minute drive or less to Maine’s largest metropolitan areas.  We are pleased that you have chosen our town as a place to live. If you have any questions or would like more information about Lisbon, our staff would be pleased to assist you.
