What. Approximately 100 feet of Main Street in Lisbon Falls will be closed to vehicular traffic from the intersection with Route 196/Lisbon Street in a northerly direction towards Union Street.
When. From approximately July 2 through Labor Day, September 8th
Continued Main Street Access. The closure will not prevent vehicles from accessing the upper portion of Main Street from Union Street.
Impacts on Parking. The majority of Main Street parking will remain open and the municipally owned parking lot behind the Post Office will remain accessible. Route 125 thru traffic will be re-routed by way of School Street.
Why? Social distancing requirements during the Covid-19 disruption has prevented the community from gathering and threatened the future of Main Street restaurants, retailers, and employees. The partial vehicle closure will create a safe outdoor space for commercial and community activities so that Main Street remains a thriving, dynamic place to visit after the pandemic recedes.
