Western Maine Transit Service Expanding

WMTS launches new bus routes

Transit services in Western Maine are expanding and making connections to the fixed route transit service in Lewiston/Auburn.

Good afternoon, all,

Please help us spread the word and forward this email to everyone on your internal and external distribution lists.

Western Maine Transportation Services has what we hope is exciting news to share.

As of Monday, November 4th, two new “pilot” bus routes operated by Western Maine Transportation Services (WMTS) have begun serving the River Valley region.

The first is the GreenLine Connection Monday-through Friday route which offers two runs each day between Rumford and Livermore. The route originates at the Rumford Information Center at 8:00 AM, with one additional stop in Rumford, two stops in Mexico, one stop each in Dixfield, Peru and Canton, and arrives at Brettun’s Variety at 8:45 AM, providing a connection to the 8:50 AM southbound GreenLine commuter bus. Riders can continue on to Lewiston~Auburn, at no additional cost.

The Connection bus then returns to Rumford serving the same stops along the route for northbound riders.

The GreenLine Connection afternoon run leaves Rumford at 2:45 PM, and arrives at Brettun’s at 3:35 PM to meet northbound GreenLine riders. The return bus arrives back in Rumford at 4:20 PM.

The second new “pilot” route is the Mountain Valley Flex Route serving Rumford and Mexico Monday through Friday from mid-mornings to early afternoons. The Mountain Valley Flex Route offers scheduled stops at 7 locations, with the ability to go off-route by ¾ mile to provide access for additional riders.

Both routes are in their “pilot” phase to test timing, ridership and other factors through the end of November.

For schedules, fares and  more information, please visit the WMTS website, www.wmtsbus.org, or call 1-800-393-9335 selection 1.

The printable schedules are available in PDF format at WMTS website: www.wmtsbus.org.

Please also let us know your thoughts on how these pilot routes might be improved.

Thanks very much,
