And how to use the Lisbon Library's online catalog (MILS)

To request materials from the Maine InfoNet Library System (MILS):

1. Go to https://mils.polarislibrary.com/polaris/ to access the catalog.

2. Click on My Library Account in the upper right corner.

3. Log in with your 14-digit Lisbon Library patron barcode, and use the last 4 digits of your phone number for the PIN/password.

4. (Optional) Read Terms & Conditions and opt in if you wish to receive SMS (text) messages notifying you of due dates or items that have arrived on hold for you. Please note that standard messaging rates may apply.

5. Use the toobar to Search for an item.

6. Once you have found an item you are interested in, click on the item to bring up the full record and confirm details such as: FORMAT (paperback, large print, audio book, DVD, BluRay, among many others), EDITION (first or revised, or season 3 of a TV show for example), LANGUAGE (French, English, Spanish, for example), AVAILABILITY ("Available, Due Date, On Hold, Missing, Library/Local Use Only).

7. Click on Request near top of screen, just above Item Record.

8. If the item is available at the Lisbon Library or at any of our MILS sister libraries, you will receive a message indicating your request was successful.

PLEASE NOTE: If the item is available at the Lisbon Library, we will get an automatic system alert the next business day; while we endeavor to process all requests in a timely fashion, your request does not guarantee your item will be placed on hold instantly, and there may be times that items appear to be available but are not on the shelf. Please call the Library at (207) 353-6564 during normal hours of operation if you need items put on hold immediately, or to verify we received your hold request the day before.

9. If your search is unsuccessful, (usually because none of our sister libraries have the item available) you can click in Search MaineCat to see if there are any libraries in the state with holdings available of that item. Go here for instructions on how to place a request in MaineCat.
