Library Playhouse Use Policy

The Library Playhouse will be open on those days the library has weekly and/or special programs.

Children and families will be allowed access to the Playhouse at other times ONLY when accompanied by a parent or guardian. The key will be available in the Children’s Room at the check-out desk.

The adult or guardian must be a patron of the library and will use his/her library card to sign out the key to the Playhouse and return the key to the Children’s Room upon departure. The adult or guardian assumes all responsibility for the children using the Playhouse.

A ten dollar ($10.00) fee will be assessed if key is not returned at the end of the business day.

The playhouse and its furniture were designed to be age-appropriate, safe and fun for young children from toddler age to 5 or 6 years (and their responsible parents). For the enjoyment and safety of all participants, we strongly encourage parents to respect these age guidelines for playhouse use.

Parents who have checked out the playhouse key and are uncomfortable with the responsibility of other children who want to play, may return the playhouse key at their discretion.

The Playhouse is deemed to be an extension of the library facility and its services; therefore, those wishing to use the garden Playhouse must be patrons of the Library (See “Patron Registration Policy”) and all rules of the library apply to the use of the Playhouse.

The Library Governing Board, Lisbon Police Department, Library Director and staff have consulted in this matter and agree this policy is necessary to ensure the safety and security of all the children who visit the Library, garden and Playhouse.
