Program Listing & Descriptions

General Information

All programs run by the Lisbon Parks and Recreation Department have a registration fee and must be signed up for in advance of the program start. Non-resident are charged an additional fee with priority going to Lisbon residents. All coaches must complete a background check. Parents and players are expected to follow a code of conduct put out by the Lisbon Parks & Recreation Department for the benefit of all.


Year Round

  • Fitness Center ($15.00) – The Lisbon Parks & Recreation Department runs a Fitness Center in the MTM Community Center. It has a weight room and two rooms of cardio equipment. It is open to anyone age 13 and older. Those under 18 must have parental signature and supervision. After filling out a registration form and having an orientation, access is through a pass coded door. There is no additional membership fee other than the monthly cost of $15 per month. A senior citizen discount is available. Initial registration requires 3 months paid in advance.
  • The Sunshine Hill Neighbors – This program is designed to keep our retired population social and active. Some of the activities are Friday luncheons and monthly local trips. Monday mornings are cribbage tournaments and weekly there are age appropriate fitness classes. Once or twice a year the group takes multiday out of state trips, such as to Washington DC and New York City. There is no membership involved, it is open to anyone. 

Summer Programs

  • Adult Co-Ed Softball ($500.00 per team) – These teams play in a local league from May to September, they practice on the Pinewoods Fields in Lisbon. Please call if you would like to have a team of your own or be placed on a team.
  • Summer Day Camps ($550.00 resident/$750 non-resident for 7 weeks) Summer Day camps are spread out at several locations for children going into Kindergarten through 8th grade. Camp runs for seven weeks and begins the last week of June. Campers participate in structured activities inside and outside, along with time for free play. Activities include arts & crafts, field games, movies, tye dying t-shirts and games of all sorts. They will take field trips each week to such places as state parks, Funtown and Aquaboggin. The field trips (as well as lunch) are included in the price of camp. Camp activity hours are 9 – 4, children may be at camp from 8 - 5:00.
  • Summer Sports Camps (all sport camps $35.00) – We offer a number of sports camps each year. These are generally open to children going into Kindergarten through 8th grade, with some exceptions. The camps we offer are: Basketball, Soccer, Football, Field Hockey, and Cheering. Camps are for one or two weeks and are between 1 to 2 hours in length.
  • Track and Field ($75.00) – Our Track program runs from late June through mid-August and is under the rules of the US Track and Field organization. Practices are on the Lisbon High School track on Mondays & Tuesdays with meets on Thursdays. Bus transportation is provided to the meets.
  • Swimming Lessons ($50.00) – **Subject to pool availability.** A five week session of swimming lessons is run at the YWCA in Lewiston. It is open to kids in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Transportation is provided to and from MTM or LCS. The children are supervised by Parks & Rec. staff and lessons are given by the YWCA staff.
  • Moxie 5k Road Race ($25.00 pre reg. $30.00 race day) – This race, nearly 600 runner is always the second Saturday in July, rain or shine. It runs in connection with the Moxie festival and begins at 7:30am. The race event is set up in front of Lisbon High School and begins and ends across from the high school. Pre-registration is encouraged and pre-registered participants receive a race t-shirt. Moxie specific trophies and awards are given for first and second place in all age groups.   • Moxie Car Show ($10.00 car  $5.00 spectator) – In 2012 the Moxie Car Show was brought back with great success! It is the second Sunday in July during the Moxie Festival, held on the soccer fields of Lisbon High School. There is music, one-of-a-kind trophies, food, and all kinds of fun! All the proceeds from this event benefit the Sunshine Hill Neighbors programs run by the Parks & Recreation Department.
  • Family Movie Nights in the Park (free) – Beginning in 2012 and an instant hit, movies are shown in the MTM Park. The big screen covers the Pavilion for a drive in movie feel. The movie is free and open to all. Bring your blanket, chair, snacks and family for movies like the old days! Concessions are usually available.
  • Concerts in the Park (Free) – Co-sponsored by Positive Change Lisbon, the concerts take place during July and August on Sunday evenings. Held in the MTM Park on the Pavilion, they feature talent from Maine and abroad covering everything from blues to country to classic rock. All concerts are free and open to the public.
  • D.A.R.E. – Together with Lisbon Parks & Rec., the Lisbon PD runs twol events. In July kids get their bikes checked for safety and registered at the annual Bike Rodeo. There are contests, prizes and food! The annual Funtown night trip in August is always full. Families are encouraged to attend and children under 12 must have a parent accompany them.

School Year Programs

  • Before School Rec ($18.00 per week or $5.00 per day, effective 7/1/23) – This program is held at Lisbon Community School, runs for the entire school year and begins at 7am each school day. Rec staff play games and keep children busy until they are released to the teachers at the start of the school day. This program does not run during vacations, snow days or teacher staff days.
  • After School Rec ($65.00 per week or $15.00 per day, effective 7/1/23) – This program is held at the MTM Community Center. Children take the bus from LCS to MTM with the program going until 5:30. They will be able to do indoor games in the gym, art or homework in the art and reading room and outdoor play as weather allows. This program runs for the entire school year but is not available on vacations, snow days or teacher staff days.

Fall Programs

  • Football ($90.00 for 7th/8th grade, $80.00 youth,  $75.00 peewee, $35.00 flag) – Football starts with 1st-2nd graders in a Flag Football league. Practices are twice a week on a local field with home and away games on Saturdays following the Central Maine Football League schedule. For grades 3 – 8 there is tackle football. For grades 3-4 & 5-6, it is the Central Maine Football League rules and schedule. Practices are weeknights with home and away games on Saturdays. All equipment is provided by the Lisbon Parks & Recreation Department. Grades 7 -8 are in the Winthrop Football League with weeknight practices. Games are on Wednesday afternoons and are both home and away. Equipment is provided by the Lisbon Parks & Recreation Department.
  • Soccer ($40.00) – This co-ed program runs from late August through October and is open to kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade. There are groups for Kindergarten through 2nd grade and 3rd through 6th grade. Teams will practice once or twice a week with all teams playing Saturday mornings on the high school fields. This is a town league and does not travel.
  • Field Hockey ($65.00) – This is for middle school girls. Practices begin in September and games go through October. Girls have both home and away games. Bus transportation to away games and uniforms are provided by the Parks & Rec. Department.
  • D.A.R.E. – A Halloween event for middle and high school students will occur. Call the Parks & Rec. Dept. for more information in October.

Winter Programs

  • Basketball ($40.00) – There is a K-2nd grade clinic that runs January through February at Lisbon Community School on Saturday mornings. This is designed to teach children the basics of offensive and defensive play to prepare them for a game setting starting in 3-4th grade  Our 3rd- 4th and 5th-6th girls league and boys league runs from December through February. Practices are on one or two weeknights and games are on Saturdays at Lisbon Community School. Boys or girls travel teams may form.
  • Swimming Lessons ($60.00) – **Not available in 2023 due to pool availability** Lisbon Parks & Rec. runs two, six week sessions of swimming lessons at the YWCA in Lewiston. The first one begins after February vacation, the second one begins after April vacation. It is open to kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Children ride a Lisbon Schools bus to and from LCS to the YMCA. Lessons are given by the YWCA staff and the children are supervised by the Parks and Rec. staff.
  • D.A.R.E. – Lisbon PD and the Parks & Rec. Department Trips are taken to Globetrotters, Disney on Ice, and more. Tickets are discounted and families are encouraged to attend. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
