Honor Guard

After many years of trying to get funding to resurrect the Lisbon Police Honor Guard, a vote at the 2005 Town meeting granted funding for a 5 person unit. Selected members were Sgt. Harry Moore,  Det. Bill Tapley, and Officer Ryan McGee. A uniform was designed by LPD members and made by Neptune Uniforms in Haverhill, Ma. Sgt. Gagnon has since left the Lisbon PD so we are down to 4 members. We replaced our original fake M1 Garand rifles with genuine Garands that were loaned to us by the U.S. Army for our use. We now are able to participate in firing volleys during rifle salutes.

Since the inception of the guard, we have participated in numerous events. Opening day Lisbon JAL, Police Memorial Day ceremonies in Augusta, Lisbon Memorial Day Parade, Moxie Day Parade, Lisbon Town Council events, and, unfortunately, several funerals for past and present law enforcement officers. The members of the Guard take great pride in representing the Lisbon Police Department and the Town of Lisbon. Many hours of marching and movement practice have paid off. We routinely get positive comments from the citizens and other law enforcement agencies on how sharp we are. We appreciate the ongoing support of the Town for this dedicated group of officers.
