Input needed from recent Flood Event

The Maine Emergency Management Agency is collecting initial damage assessments for small business and agriculture entities that were impacted by the December 18 event by way of the assessment survey, embedded below. The assessments help MEMA to determine the extent of damages and specific need and which agencies if any may serve as a resource. The entity completing the form must show major damage to their small business or farm; FEMA defines major damage as a loss of a roof, a flood that lasts several days or floodwater 18 inches high on the first floor, for example. It is important to note that the Initial Damage Assessment is not an application for assistance, only an assessment. Should damages be substantial enough, even if a Presidential Disaster Declaration is not made, MEMA can request assistance from, for example the Small Business Administration (SBA) for low-rate loans.
