Single Stream Recycling

Instead of separating recyclables by type, simply combine all glass, tin, aluminum, and plastics.

Recyclables - Inside Bins
 

Paper: Newspaper, magazines, telephone and paperback books (covers removed).

Mixed Paper: Cereal boxes (no plastic liners), clean pizza boxes, mail, office and school paper, six pack material, paper cups, plates, etc.

Corrugated Cardboard: Clean, dry and flattened. If larger than 4.6 feet, it must be cut to size. Brown paper bags may also be included.

Styrofoam Peanuts: Keep these clean and store in plastic bags; give to attendant. These are recycled to local businesses and citizens for packing.

Mercury Containing Products: Unbroken fluorescent bulbs, unbroken mercury thermometers, mercury switches and thermostats, chest freezer light switch, gas pilot switch, auto hood and trunk switches and silent wall switches. HANDLE WITH CARE AND GIVE TO ATTENDANT.

Paint: Water based paint must be dried up or empty. All others go to AVCOG HHHW collection in Lewiston.

TV & Monitors: These go in bay 6 and attendant will take care of them.

Recyclable - Outside Bins
 

Motor Oil: Label each container with your name, address and phone number. DO NOT mix oil with any other liquids. Bring it to the Transfer Station in sealed containers. DO NOT pour the oil into the tank. The attendant does that after the liquid has been tested.

Antifreeze: Label each container with your name, address and phone number. DO NOT mix antifreeze with any other liquids. Bring it to the Transfer Station in sealed container and give to attendant.

Tires: All sizes; remove rims. Fees vary starting at $3.00/ea. See attendant.

Demolition Debris: Furniture, brown goods and mattresses will be broken down, metal removed.

Grass/leaves for compost material: Must be clean, no wood, rock, branches or foreign objects.

Brush: No metal or other materials, maximum length of 6 feet.

Demolition Wood: This is wood from remodeling, building, etc. Paint and nails are acceptable.

Drywall: Also known as sheetrock or gypsum board. Can be recycled if clean. No wood or other materials.

Metal: Please remove other material such as webbing from lawn chairs, wood tops from metal tables, etc.

Clean Asphalt Shingles: These can be recycled into paving material. Remove wood, flashing, wrapping paper and leaves.
