Memorial and Honor Donation Policy

A donor requests a memorial or honor book to be purchased. He/she will provide full name and address for family notification. Donor will specify amount to be spent on gift.

Donors are welcome to make title or subject suggestions, but the Library Director will make the decision to purchase book(s) in a subject deemed appropriate for collection. Books purchased as gifts will meet same standards of selection that govern other purchases.

The book(s) will carry a Memorial or Honor plate bearing the name of the deceased/honoree. The information will be recorded on the MARC computer record and in the library’s “Memorial/Honor Book” for patron and donor viewing.

The Library Director will send notification in form of Memorial/Honor Card to the family.

The Library Director will notify donor when book(s) is received with amount due the Lisbon Library Department if gift was not pre-paid.

Memorial Book Funds can be established through the Lisbon Library Department and the Friends of the Lisbon Library. These book funds will also have to meet standards of selection that govern all purchases.
