4/4/2024 STORM UPDATE

Lisbon & Lisbon Falls

4/4/24 STORM UPDATE from the Town of Lisbon (Lisbon and Lisbon Falls):

If you look outside, you’ll see SNOW! While it’s a beautiful sight, the weight of the snow is posing challenges to local infrastructure like power lines and vehicle travel routes. Here is what you need to know:

POWER OUTAGES:  There are multiple trees and wires down across Town. Many homes and businesses are without power. This is anticipated to be problematic throughout the storm. Expect the number of power outages to increase. Call CMP if you have an outage or see a downed line: 1-800-696-1000.

ROAD CLOSURES: Many roads are impassable and remain closed. This means that our plows are unable to get to some roads until power lines or trees have been removed and areas are made safe. (Don’t drive around barricades or cones – this is for your safety!) We ask for your patience while our crews assess and please remember that the safety of residents and our staff is our top priority.

TRAVEL: Road conditions are poor everywhere. Please stay home whenever possible. We continue to receive a high number of calls reporting accidents and road closures due to trees/wires.

DOWNED TREES/WIRES: Remember that CMP jingle – “No line is safe to touch – evah!”. Never touch or go near downed lines and never cut trees during a storm. There is always a risk of injury and you never know when a live wire is present (even when you can’t see it).

PARKING BAN: The town-wide parking ban remains in effect for all of Lisbon and Lisbon Falls.

This storm is predicted to last through tomorrow. Expect conditions to worsen. Our staff are working diligently to keep the community safe. Continue to monitor your local media outlets for important weather updates. You can also visit https://www.weather.gov/gyx/ for local weather statements and information.

While our public safety officials advise everyone to stay safe at home and off the roads, a warming/charging center is available at the Lisbon Police Department (300 Lisbon Street) if needed. Call 353-2500 for more information.
